In my old age I've grown to be pretty anal about some things and I'll tell you why. It's because every frigging time I get all confident and arrogant about something I've done -- and this happens every frigging time -- I end up eating my words or putting my foot in my mouth or get put in my place or whatever cliche you want to use to say that I end up being totally, unequivocally wrong.

So to avoid that embarrassment I check and double check and have everything organized just so to make sure that everything checks out. And even if it does, I still worry that I must have missed something. Because if I don't have that paranoia I end up missing that one thing that makes everything else crash down.

*sigh*

Although, probably the craziest thing is that even though I do end up having my delusions of grandure smashed, in the end -- after I'm done cursing myself and wallowing in self-pity -- things usually end up working out just fine. WTF?!
